About the NBCF

The New Brunswick Choral Federation (NBCF) was founded in 1979 to promote and encourage the art of choral music in the province of New Brunswick. A non-profit arts organization, we represent the interests of over 900 individual choristers, choral conductors, accompanists, music teachers and others who care about the survival of New Brunswick’s rich choral tradition. As one of only two choral federations in Atlantic Canada (see the
Nova Scotia Choral Federation), we also provide a vital link to the larger Canadian choral community.

The mandate of the NBCF is to
  • Facilitate communication & fellowship among those involved in choral music.
  • Sponsor workshops & other choral events that benefit our choral community.
  • Create opportunities for young people to engage in choral music.

Highlights of our programming include
Spring Choral Fest, National Youth Choir, our newly established provincial youth choir and choir workshops. We publish a printed newsletter, The Troubadour, three times a year and a monthly e-newsletter, NBCF NEWS. We also house the Carolyn Nielsen Music Library, a collection of 1,300 vocal scores in a variety of styles and voicing, available for loan to members only.

The New Brunswick Choral Federation gratefully acknowledges the ongoing support of the Arts Development Branch of Wellness, Culture and Sport, Province of New Brunswick.
